LocalView – Getting Press for a Local App
Getting press is difficult for a lot of businesses. It’s important to build relationships with journalists and know which ones to contact with your press pitch. Even though we were an app company, getting in TechCrunch or TheNextWeb wasn’t a good choice, because they’d send a flood of users who couldn’t use our product as it was locally focused.
For LocalView, we used our local contacts to promote our app. We made contacts through networking events, and used Linkedin or Twitter to help find and connect with potential influencers. We targeted journalists interested in start up companies as well as technology.
